Who Writes Here
Every article on Cycle Charlotte is written by one of four people. We use pen names, partly for privacy and partly because it keeps the attention on the article rather than the author. None of us holds a title that would make our word final on anything, so we write as interested amateurs who do their reading and show their working.
The four of us
Wilhelmina – editor, films and series
Wilhelmina looks after the overall shape of the magazine and reads every piece before it goes up. Her own patch is what is on screen: European dramas, film nights, sports broadcasting and the slow shift from cable boxes to internet television. She has a weakness for subtitled crime series and a firm rule against spoilers in headlines.
Thibault – tech at home
Thibault writes about the devices and software that fill a modern living room and desk: streaming setups, privacy tools, design converters and the occasional deep dive into ad dashboards. He tests things on his own hardware where he can and says clearly when he has not.
Perpetua – home, hobbies and travel
Perpetua covers the practical side of daily life: lighting a small room, shading a terrace, decluttering before a move, choosing flowers for someone far away. She also takes the travel pieces, preferring towns with good walking streets over crowded attractions.
Caspian – the cycling corner
Caspian rides to work most days and fixes his own bike, badly at first and better now. His guides start from the mistakes he made, such as the time he refitted a tube without checking the tire, and turn them into steps you can follow, beginning with how to fix a flat bike tire.
How we share the work
Each writer drafts in their own area, but nothing is published on one person's say-so. A second member of the team reads every draft as a newcomer would and flags anything confusing, missing or overconfident. Safety points in the cycling and home articles get an extra pass.
Ideas come from our own weekends and from readers. When several people ask the same question, it usually becomes an article. Our guiding rules are written down on What Every Piece Must Do.
What we do not do
- Money never buys a change of wording, tone or verdict in any article.
- We do not present ourselves as doctors, lawyers, engineers or financial advisers.
- We do not answer questions about orders, refunds or accounts with other companies; those belong with the business concerned.
Say hello
All four of us read the shared inbox. If you have a correction, a question or a topic you would like covered, the contact page has the address. You can also read more about the magazine itself on About Cycle Charlotte.
Why pen names
Four writers, one shared inbox
We write under pen names so the focus stays on the advice rather than the person giving it. None of us claims a title that would make our word final.
What we can promise is that every article has been read by at least two of us, and that a reader's correction carries more weight than our pride.
